Hello, and welcome to the art engaging podcast with me, Claire Bown.
I’m here to help educators guides and creatives engage their audiences with art, objects and ideas. On The Art Engager podcast, I’ll be sharing a variety of easy to learn flexible techniques and tools to help you create participant centred experiences that really bring art and ideas to life.
Over the last 10 years, I’ve seen many educators struggle to meet the demands of leading discussion based programmes in museum and heritage environments.
I’ve seen how creating real engagement with artworks can be difficult, even for the most experienced of professionals.
Some struggle with asking the right questions, or knowing when and how to share their knowledge, or even how to get the most out of their group.
So much so that I’ve developed my own method called visible thinking in the museum, or VTM, for short, that will give your discussions of flexible structure and substance and engage audiences with art and ideas.
So maybe you’re interested in making your programmes more interactive, and more engaging.
Or perhaps you’re used to a more traditional way of working and would love to confidently transition to discussion based programmes.
Or maybe like me, you’re a lifelong learner and you love learning new things, and want to keep your skills up to date.
If so, this podcast is for you.
In a nutshell, the art engager podcast will share strategies, ideas and inspiration to help you to engage your audiences and confidently lead lively art discussions.
We’re going to be talking about things like thinking routines, slow looking, formulating brilliant questions, handling and sharing your knowledge, facilitation skills, communication techniques, group dynamics, and much much more.
In The Art Engager podcast, I’m going to help you to excel at engaging audiences to find your own way of working, drawing on a toolbox of educational practices, techniques and skills that you can use in your own individual way to engage audiences with art.
